Jiminy Wicket™, an international organization founded in 2009, is using the simple game of croquet to improve the lives of people living with dementia.
Why play croquet?
Croquet is a low-cost, intergenerational game that is easy to play and enjoy.
Facilitated CroquetSM encourages mental, physical and social well-being for the participants, their care partners and their families.
What is dementia?
Dementia is a loss of brain function that occurs with certain diseases. It affects memory, thinking, language, judgment and behavior.
How many people have dementia?
Thirty five million people around the globe are fighting dementia. There are 5.5 million Americans with the disease, and 10 times that number are impacted as caregivers and supporters.
What is Facilitated Croquet?
Facilitated Croquet is a modified version of traditional croquet which allows people with different levels of physical and mental ability to enjoy the game.
